Downgrade from Google Apps from business to standard edition

The problem:

Recently I set up a new web site for the godmother of my son. She bought a domain ‘casanovaminiaturas.com‘ and I managed to arrange the hosting and to install  some software for her. For managing the e-mail we decide to use Google Apps but when we signed up, we did it for the bussines edition instead of standard edition which is free. After 30 days Google Apps cancelled our account, so we could not log in to read our e-mail.

Our aim:

We wanted to downgrade to standard edition which is free.

Solution:

After some research I found out how to do it:

  1. Log in to your domain account in Google Apps: https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/yourdomain.com
  2. Go to ‘Domain settings‘  and then click on the tab  ‘Account information
  3. Proceed to downgrade from Bussines to Standard Edition keeping all accounts previously set up with their messages and contacts.
  4. After some minutes in my case, you will be able to log in again.
