  • I designed and deployed a plan for moving my School (Apóstol Santiago School) to use IT. Some milestones on this way were :
    • First computer classroom with full connectivity to internet through RDSI (year 1996)
    • First WEB site of our School. At that moment it was the first WEB site of a School in Galicia (year 1996)
    • I installed a VLE based on Moodle to support teaching-learning activities in our School:
    • I’m in charge of the teacher training activities to an effective use of Moodle as a pedagogical tool
    • I was the School coordinator of the first EU Comenius project we joined with partners from Germany and Portugal. The project was called “Networks of Schools by Means of Technology” (1997-1998)
  • I applied and got a financial support to move for one month to EUN – European SchoolNet headquarter at Brussels (Belgium) (July-August 1999) I collaborate in their migration from a static website to a database driven (CMS) website.
  • I applied and got a financial support to go and complete the visitor teacher program at the CERN (Switzerland). 2005
  • As a freelance consultant inf the ICT-Educational fields, I work in the development of  a Educational project called “Proxecto Escolas” for a Spanish-Portuguese institution called Euroregion Galicia – North of Portugal (2001-2003)

 

7.- My experience in IT and its applications on Educational fields (instructional designs, teacher’s training and supporting new methodologies)

  • I’m teaching different training courses/workshops for Teachers both as freelance for other institutions and for my colleagues at Apostol Santiago School. Below a list of topics I taught:

    • Internet for Adults/Teachers (Email, Browsers, Search Engines, …)  (Financed by plan FORCEM)
    • Teaching with Moodle: Basic and Advanced (Financed by Spanish Fundación Tripartita)
    • Online teacher for “Programa de Formación en telecomunicaciones FORINTEL) for Adults. Organized by Fundación Radio ECCA with funds from FORINTEL National program. Years 2001-2003.
    • Two workshops for professionals about E-learning with Moodle organized by Foundation Obra Social de NovaCaixaGalicia (november 2012 and march 2013)
  • Leader and coordinator at my School of a EU Comenius Program for three years (1997-1999). The project, called Network of Schools by Means of Technology (http://www.galiciacity.com/comenius), was awarded by the German Socrates National Agency to be presented at a Comenius Meeting’1999 in Bonn (Germany).
  • I got a grant from the EUN – European SchoolNet to work with them along July 2000 at  Brussels. My task was to help in migrating from their static website to a CMS based on Coldfusion.
  • Along years 2000-2003 I worked as a EUN expert peer reviewer assessing IT-Educational Research Projects funded by the EU..
  • I designed a plan for using an LMS and a ePortfolio platform in my Schools. I deployed both with open source applications: Moodle and Mahara. I still go on maintaining and administering them for both Primary and Secondary teachers and students. Our LMS/ePortfolio supports around 1200 students and 60 teachers per year.
  • I built and ran a Moodle platform  (http://comenius.escolas.org/) to support the activities of a EU Comenius Project with Schools from France, Finland, Italy, UK and Spain.
  • I keep alive a project called ESCOLAS  (http://moodle.escolas.org) from where I try to help other teachers to efficiently embed some ICT tools in their teaching.

  • 2001: Panel member (invited) at the close session of EDUCARED’2001 International Congress. We discussed about ‘Opportunities and risks of Internet in Spain’.
